Malaysian owner of stores offering a range of home improvement products, MR D.I.Y., is entering the Polish market and has leased nearly 5,000 sq m at the Hillwood Zgierz I logistics park to set up its first logistics center in Central Europe.

MR D.I.Y with the first logistics center in Central and Eastern Europe

The Malaysian tenant of Hillwood Zgierz I has more than 3,500 stores across 12 countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Cambodia, India, Turkey, Spain, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. The assortment of MR D.I.Y. stores includes more than 20,000 types of hardware, household and furnishing, electrical, stationery, and sports equipment products, and more. The opening of the logistics center in Zgierz is the first step in the company’s strategy to expand into the Central and Eastern European markets. In addition to the Asian markets, the company is already present in Spain and Turkey.

Perfect logistics park location

The Hillwood Zgierz I logistics and warehouse park is a modern facility with an area of more than 70,000 sq m. The park is located in Dabrowka Wielka near the A2 highway, providing easy access to major transportation routes. Thanks to modern construction standards and attention to the environment, the park has been BREEAM-certified at the Excellent level.

We are extremely pleased with the selection of Hillwood Zgierz I as our first logistics headquarters in Poland. The location of this park is ideally suited to our operational needs, enabling us to transport our ‘Always Low Prices’ goods quickly and efficiently throughout the country, as well as providing the opportunity for further expansion.” – said MR D.I.Y.’s spokesperson.

“This transaction demonstrates that our offering meets our customers’ demanding requirements for modern warehouse and office space. We are proud to support MR D.I.Y.’s operations. I believe that our client will repeat on the Polish market the success achieved in Asian countries.” – added Wojciech Dachniewski, Leasing Director at Hillwood Poland.

Central Poland is the best choice

Our priority in the transaction turned out to be finding distribution space in a central location not too far from an expressway or highway entrance. The client also expected the building to be occupied to be ready for use or to be in the final stages of construction. Given its logistical advantages, the Central Poland region best met these expectations and the tenant will soon start its operations,” comments, Hubert Wojtera, Director, Industrial & Logistics, AXI IMMO.
